Where should the SAM amplifier be placed during a session?
During an EEG recording session, the SAM amplifier should be placed close to the user and away from electronic devices, to reduce interference and support stable signal quality.
Recommended amplifier placement
- Close to the user, so electrode cables remain short
- Away from electronic devices, such as laptops, monitors, docking stations, and power supplies
- In a stable location, for example:
- On the user’s chest
- On a nearby table or surface close to the user
This placement helps reduce electrical and electromagnetic interference that can affect recordings and Bluetooth communication.
Why amplifier placement matters
Nearby electronic devices and sources of electromagnetic fields can negatively affect:
- EEG signal quality
- Artifact levels
- Wireless communication between the amplifier and the software
Placing the amplifier too close to electronic equipment can therefore lead to unstable signals or connection issues.
When to adjust amplifier placement
You should review and adjust amplifier placement if:
- EEG signals appear unusually noisy
- Artifact levels increase despite good electrode contact
- The software repeatedly loses connection to the amplifier
In these cases, moving the amplifier further away from electronics is recommended.
