Why can’t SAM connect to the amplifier and how can I fix it?

If SAM can’t connect to the amplifier, first confirm the amplifier is powered on and selected in Settings, then verify Bluetooth is enabled and stable. If issues persist, reduce Bluetooth/electromagnetic interference and reconnect or restart the amplifier.

Symptoms you might see

  • The amplifier does not appear in the SAM software or connection fails
  • Connection drops repeatedly during a session
  • An error message appears and the amplifier LED changes from steady to blinking

Step‑by‑step fixes (use in this order)

1) Confirm the amplifier is ON and not charging

  • Ensure the amplifier is switched on (check LED status)
  • Important: The amplifier cannot be switched on while charging
  • If charging, remove it from the charging pad and switch it on again

2) Check SAM software settings (most common cause)

SAM will not connect if the amplifier is not correctly selected.

What to do:

  • In SAM, go to Settings → Data sources
  • Ensure the correct amplifier is added and selected as the active source

3) Verify Bluetooth is enabled and stable

The SAM amplifier communicates via Bluetooth.

What to do:

  • Confirm Bluetooth is enabled on the computer
  • If disconnections happen repeatedly, treat this as a Bluetooth stability issue and continue with interference reduction steps below

4) Reduce Bluetooth and electromagnetic interference (very effective)

Nearby electronics can disrupt the connection.

What to do:

  • Keep the amplifier away from laptops, monitors, docking stations, and power supplies
  • Avoid devices emitting electrical or electromagnetic fields
  • Disconnect other Bluetooth devices if possible

5) Disconnect and reconnect the amplifier in SAM

If the amplifier is paired but not connecting reliably:

What to do:

  • Use the amplifier connection controls in SAM to disconnect
  • Reconnect the amplifier and attempt the connection again

6) Restart the amplifier

If issues persist after steps 1–5:

What to do:

  • Switch the amplifier off, then on again
  • Retry the connection in SAM

If the connection drops during a session

If Bluetooth disconnects during measurement, SAM may show an error and allow you to discard the run.

What to do:

  • Reduce interference (see Step 4)
  • Reconnect the amplifier
  • If interruptions continue, repeat the troubleshooting steps above

When to contact support

If you have completed all steps and the problem persists, contact your dealer or the manufacturer as recommended in the instructions for use.
